The Youth Choir at First United Methodist Church, Arlington, Texas, has had a rich tradition of excellence. Now called Testament, this group of Christian young people, regularly leads the 8:15 a.m. worship service.

Each year Testament presents special Advent and Christmas music for the church, periodically performs musicals for the church and community, provides musical leadership during Youth Sunday (a student-led worship service), and present a concert of music prepared for their yearly choir tour.

The "True Colors Tour" features several of the students not only singing, but using their other talents as well, from playing drums and guitar, to cello, violin and sign language.

This year Testament will wrap up their "True Colors Tour" to Washington DC, with a special presentation of their tour repertoire at all three morning services Sunday, July 13, 2003.

Several members of Testament have joined in the formation of the Junior High and Senior High Student Ministries Praise Bands, using their vocal and instrumental talents. As God would have them, they are now playing a role in leading not only the early morning traditional sanctuary service, but also Praise and Worship for their fellow students at First Church.

Many former Testament members have gone on to take part in their college choral programs, furthering their musical talents. Others have moved on to join the Chancel Choir and Occasional Singers and Celebration Praise Singers at First Church.

In preparation for worship and other events, the choir rehearses from 4:45 to 6:00 p.m. each Sunday afternoon. Testament consists of 7th through 12th graders.

In past years, Testament has traveled to New Orleans, Nashville, Walt Disney World, Colorado Springs, Williamsburg and St. Louis. They have sung in churches, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities during their journeys. They have had the rare opportunity to sing in places such as the Air Force Academy Chapel, Duke University Chapel, and fun venues such as the Williamsburg Music Theater. This year they are looking forward to performing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

The Primary purpose of choir tour is to share Christ and the Love of God with others around our nation through music.  While sharing Christ on the road with others, Testament members sing all music from memory, prepare and participate in devotionals, learn more about who Christ is and who Christ can be in their lives, create a joyous sound, and live a spiritual experience like no other. The time spent on the road together allows the students and their leaders to build a Christian community within the choir.
