TESTAMENT TOUR 2016
IT'S A
MYSTERY! |
|
Saturday |
After a
brief stop in Waco, we proceeded on to College Station for Lunch. Then
it was back on the road for a fun time in Houston traffic. We
arrived and checked in to the Atlantic Dorms at
Texas A&M Galveston. Following
a quick change into concert attire, we grabbed a bite to eat in the
campus cafeteria and headed out to our first concert of the trip at
Elmcroft of the Mainland in Texas City. Then it was back to
the dorms for snack, spades and a great first night worship time.
Room check at 11:00. Sunday morning is going to come very early. |
Sunday |
Breakfast at 7AM!!! then off to sing at the 8:30 service at
Moody Methodist Church in Galveston.
From there we headed to the oldest Methodist Church in Texas City,
First United Methodist of Texas City
to lead worship there. Since it had been so long since we ate, we
headed to Fish Tales on the
Seawall to have a seafood buffet. Delish!!! We then
headed back to the dorm to have a bit of free time, before we have to
eat AGAIN at 5:15. Heading off to a location yet to be named for an
evening activity.
Well that was fun.
this was such a Mystery Trip that the retirement center we were
scheduled to perform at tonight apparently forgot we were coming. So ,
no concert tonight. Then we ran into a bit of mechanical problem with
the bus. The handicap door on the side would not stay closed.
After a lot of sweating and a couple of scraped knuckles, Rick and Roger
got it closed. A mechanic is on the way tomorrow to make permanent
repairs tomorrow. |
Monday |
This
morning we get to have a later breakfast than normal. That is if
you call 7AM normal and 8:15 later.... We are heading to
Stewart Beach for a
bit of fun and frolicking this morning. We have the industrial
size sun screen container, so everyone should be good. After our time at
the beach, who knows what we may be doing?
Slight change of plans
for lunch today. Rather than going to a fast food cluster, we went back
to the dorm after our time at the beach and had pizza delivered. It gave
everyone the chance to shower and relax a lot sooner after getting so
sandy at the beach. Right after dinner we traveled to
The Mansions at Moses Lake
in Texas City for our evening concert. Then back to the dorms for
some free time and worship. |
Tuesday |
Mission
Work Day! After breakfast on campus we headed over to the
Galveston County
Foodbank and spent the morning serving in mission.
We were able to
contribute our service to help those in the Galveston area who are in
need of food. And, thanks to the generosity of one of the retirement
communities we sang at earlier this week we were able to pay forward a
$100 love offering. Our performances are given in praise of God, so
anytime we've receive a contribution we turn around and donate that
offering to a cause in the area.
In this way we are a
true Testament to Christ.
This evening we
performed at a new Methodist Retirement Community in League City;
The Crossing. the
facility was absolutely beautiful. It was really hard to get
John to leave. We thought we were going to have to try and
negotiate a special rate for him.
It will be a bit of a
late night tonight as everyone has to get repacked and ready to hit the
road in the morning. Sometimes it is hard to figure out how they got all
of that stuff in one suitcase.

Wednesday |
We left
Galveston a little late this morning. Rick was held up by traffic
getting to the dorm to pick us up. It's not everyday that a drawbridge
keeps you from getting where you need to be, but he got to spend a
little while watching the Shrimp Trawlers go by before he could get to
the campus.
Once we hit the road,
we drove straight through to the
University of Texas at San Antonio. (UTSA). We did not make a
Buc-ees stop, much to the chagrin of Sarah Block. We headed straight to
the cafeteria for lunch, and then unloaded the bus. We are now settled
in, with a group going to the book store before we eat AGAIN and then go
sing.
We performed our last
Full set up concert (Risers, instruments, and all of the other equipment
that we normally use) tonight. We still may have a few performances to
go, but they will be different. Tonight we were at
The
Waterford on Huebner. Then had our traditional "No Talent
Show" and the Graduate Game following our evening worship time.
Off to bed and ready to go tomorrow. |
Thursday |
We were
tourists all day. We started the day with breakfast on campus and
then headed downtown to explore The
Alamo. From there we headed over to the
Buckhorn Saloon and Museum for
a tour of the museum and a yummy pulled pork sandwich for lunch. I
think I became a hero in many of the girls eyes today when it turned out
that
Mark Ballas from 'Dancing With the Stars' and his Fiancé BC Jean
were shooting some video and recording some songs in the saloon. I
just acted like it was planned. And then proceeded to wow the kids by
walking right up and talking to them. Oh boy....
We then headed over to
the Natural Bridge Caverns for a tour of the wonders beneath the surface
of the earth.
We took a few minutes 108 feet below the ground to sing. After
the tour we enjoyed a cold ice cream cone or lemonade then headed back
to the dorm for dinner and tonights special worship and Testament
Circle.
We're coming home
tomorrow!!! |
Friday |
We left
San Antonio this morning heading home, but made a quick stop off
to sing a concert in the State Capital Rotunda, and then on to Uncle
Julios for lunch. Should be home in Arlington soon. |
