Choir Tours
the Country
Each year Testament takes
several days out of their summer to participate in a special
choir tour. The Primary purpose of this tour is to
share Christ, and the Love of God with others around our nation through
music. They have the pleasure of singing in churches, nursing homes,
and assisted living facilities during their journeys, and
often get once in a lifetime opportunities to sing in
some very exciting locations.
While sharing Christ on the road with others,
members of Testament
sing all music from memory, prepare and participate in devotionals, learn
more about who Christ is and who Christ can be
in their lives, create a joyous sound, and live a spiritual
experience like no other. The time spent together on this
trip allows the students and their leaders to build a
Christian community within the choir.
The group spends one
day of the tour working in mission in the community they are
visiting. In 2006, they spent the day working with the
residents of Lamb's Farm, a community serving adults with
developmental disabilities.
Homecoming
Concert Planned
Testament will wrap up their Tour
with a special presentation July 22, in the Great hall at
First United Methodist Church - Arlington preceded by a
church wide South Carolina BBQ luncheon at 1:00 p.m.

Several members of Testament
participate in First Methodist's Student Ministries Praise
Band, using their vocal and instrumental talents. As God
would have them, they are now playing a role in leading not
only the early morning traditional sanctuary service, but
also Praise and Worship for their fellow students at First
Church.
Many former Testament members have gone on to take
part in their college choral programs, furthering their
musical talents. Others have moved on to join the Chancel
Choir, and take part in the Celebration Service Praise Band. |
Past
Performances Revisited
Testament has traveled
to many places across the United States, including: New
Orleans, Nashville, Walt Disney World, Florida, Colorado
Springs, Williamsburg and St. Louis. 2006 found them
touring and performing in the Greater Chicago area. They
have performed onstage at Disneyland in California and have lead a musical worship service on the rim
of the Grand Canyon. In 2003 they performed the steps of the
Lincoln Memorial. |
|
They have had the rare
opportunity to sing in places such as the Air Force Academy
Chapel, Duke University Chapel, and fun venues such as
Disneyland, the Williamsburg Music Theater, and opening for the Musical
"Texas" in the Palo Duro Canyon. |
Students Prepare
and Participate
In preparation for worship and other
events, the choir rehearses from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. each
Sunday afternoon. Testament consists of 7th through
12th graders.
For many years now, Testament has
presented
special Advent and Christmas music for the church,
periodically performed musicals for the church and community,
provided musical leadership during Youth Sunday (a
student-led worship service), and present a concert of music
prepared for their yearly choir tour. |
